Iron Hands
At the beginning of the Great Crusade, the Legion had no proper name, although in some places the Iron Tenth was in circulation. Shortly before reunification with Ferrus Manus, Storm Walkers became common as a name, but with the Primarch's takeover it became Iron Hands. The Legion was often used as shock troops alongside other legions and in army groups Ferrus Manus often took command due to his experience. These undertakings led to different results, such as deep friendship with the Emperor's Children and resentment with the Alpha Legion. If they had previously taken into account the losses of the Imperial Guard, they now perceived this as weakness and this led to problems. Most other legions felt their impatience as a burden. The Iron Hands were conquerors, not liberators They defined for themselves the simple task of expanding the borders of the Empire and destroying their enemies. As the Great Crusade progressed, the Iron Hands found themselves on the front line of expansion, either in their own battle groups, pacification and extermination groups, or as part of larger expeditionary fleets. The Legion's victories cannot be easily counted, as they became increasingly uninterested in sharing their successes with others. After the appointment of Horus as Warmaster, Ferrus Manus showed no signs of anger or envy, since he had been a possible candidate. The Legion continued to serve alongside the Sons of Horus and was a central point of the war master's strategic plans. Although the Iron Hands maintained close ties with the IIIrd and XVI Legion, they were not privy to the traitors' plans.
