Instructions for use:
For best results, use the various techniques listed below:
Brush application
Dip the brush into the paint and apply immediately to the surface. For a stained effect, dab the paint onto a surface and keep dabbing in the same spot until the paint dries. Any number of coats can be applied in this manner. For a more even effect, paint an even coat on the surface. A dry, damp or wet brush can be used.
Depending on whether a soft or a hard brush is used to apply the paint, the effect will be different.
Spray Application
Using an airbrush gun, spray the paint directly from the pot onto the surface. Clean the airbrush immediately after use.
Sealing
Some varnish sprays change the color of rust, moss and verdigris paints, so it is important to test the spray beforehand. We have had the best experience with Rust-oleum, Crystal Clear Protective Coat Spray and Vallejo Matt Varnish Spray.
Spray several thin coats from a distance of at least 50 cm and always let them dry in between before applying another coat of Varnish.
- Always clean the brush immediately after use in water or mineral spirits (no petroleum ether). Do not allow the paint to cure completely on the brush.
- The mixture will settle to the bottom of the container. Shake and stir thoroughly with the ball bearing before each use.
- Use the paint directly from the pot and quickly close the lid again during use so that the liquid does not evaporate. Evaporation causes the liquid to thicken and the color to darken.
- To lighten the shade, add a little water. Don't add water to the paint pot, but dump some paint into a separate pot and then add small amounts of water. Or to lighten the color, apply the paint to a surface with a damp/wet brush. Or, after painting, blot the wet or dry paint with a wet brush.
- Make sure surfaces are clean, dry and free of grease. Test the paint on concealed surfaces before application to ensure compatibility and adhesion.
- Apply only to non-porous surfaces such as plastic and metal. Do not apply to porous/absorbent surfaces such as bare wood or paper. Paint can be applied to painted surfaces, but test first. If the effect does not occur, first try sealing the surface with varnish.
- The paint is water soluble and the effect of the paint will be lost if washed with water or touched with wet hands. Do not expose the paint to rain or water splashes.
- Looks best when applied to a rough surface.
- To fill dents and grooves in surfaces, first cover the surface with paint and then wipe the paint from the raised areas with a damp cloth (at an angle to the grooves), leaving some of the paint trapped. The wetter the cloth, the more paint will be removed.
- Avoid scratching the finished paint job after it dries.
For best results, use the various techniques listed below:
- To darken the shade, apply several coats. Allow each layer to dry completely before applying another. You can apply as many layers of color as you like, one on top of the other. To achieve a broken, stained effect, apply small areas/stains at a time and allow to dry - more in some areas, less in others.
- The shade will depend on the amount applied. A thick layer of paint will dry in a darker shade, a thin layer of paint in a lighter shade.
- Further hue variations can be achieved by dabbing a damp or wet brush, cloth or rag onto the painted surface and then allowing it to dry. As the water dries, the paint separates into light and dark shades. The more water used, the stronger the effect. This technique can be used after the paint has dried or while it is still wet. Another option is to simply splash the paint with water and let it dry - without dabbing.
- For a very dark shade, transfer a small amount to a separate container and let the paint evaporate. The more the paint evaporates, the thicker and darker the paint will be.

- Fine soft brush: For very detailed work. Put a small amount on the brush and apply the paint directly to the surface.
- Larger soft brush: For applying larger amounts to larger areas. Apply larger amounts for a darker shade and smaller amounts for lighter shades.
- Stiff brush: Very light shades can be achieved by dabbing a very small amount of paint onto the surface with a stiff brush. Allow the paint to dry slightly on the brush to achieve a very light effect, similar to the dry brushing technique.
